South Korean violinist Dr. Sungho Jung made his debut with Seoul Grand Symphony Orchestra at age 13. After leaving Korea to study in Europe and the United States, Dr. Jung now resides in Florida. An avid performer of chamber music, he frequently performs for “If Music be the Food…Lansing,” a food fundraising concert series, and appears with Camerata Michigan as part of the “Cello Plus Series” directed by Suren Bagratuni. Dr. Jung also participated in music festival included Summit Music Festival, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and Brancaleoni International Music Festival in Italy where he played both violin and viola.

 

Dr. Jung also frequently appears as an orchestral musician, and was most recently concertmaster for the Michigan State Concert Orchestra. He performs regularly with many regional orchestras, including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra and Midland Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Jung was a member of the recording orchestra for Dr. Nancy Ambrose King’s album “New Works for Oboe and Orchestra,” which also featured violinists Matt Albert and Andrew Jennings.

 

A dedicated teacher, Dr. Jung is a member of the violin and at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, and is also a violin and a viola instructor at Tampa Music School and Tampa Bay Music Academy.  

 

Dr. Jung also attended masterclass held by Miriam Fried, Soovin Kim and Lawrence Dutton a member of the Emerson String Quartet. He also has studied chamber music with Joseph Genualdi, Sheila Browne, Robert Merfeld and Caroline Coade. In 2019, Dr. Jung completed his D.M.A studied on his dissertation “Introducing the Hidden Treasure” on the only Piano Trio by a

woman composer Fanny Mendelssohn.

Currently, he is the artistic director and the founder of the "MUSICISTA Chamber Music Series." He also appears as a core violin player at the Gainesville Orchestra, and the Venice Orchestra. 

Dr. Jung holds his D.M.A in Violin Performance from Michigan State University (Dmitri Berlinsky and Yvonne Lam), M.M. in Violin Performance from Boston University (Bayla Keyes), and a B.M. in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Kevin Lawrence). He also holds a performance certificate at the Prague Conservatory (Jiří Fišer) in the

Czech Republic.
